Lisa Luevanos first became fascinated with photography when she was in high school. She pursued her passion by enrolling in the Center for Creative Studies' program for Applied Photography. While at CCS, Luevanos worked part time at Ford Motor Company's Photomedia services lab, where she is currently a staff photographer.

Luevanos derives "great pleasure" from being a mentor for the Focus Hope "Focus on the Mission" photography project. Focus Hope is a Detroit nonprofit organization that has helped more than 7,000 young people learn machinist and other employable skills, and also feeds more than 45,000 Detroiters every month.

Her main interest is photographing people. Her family, neighbors, and neighborhood provide an abundance of subject matter. This photograph was made during a visit to her grandfather's hometown in Guanajuato, Mexico. Luevanos lives and works in the Detroit area.
