Bill Rauhauser was born in Detroit, where he earned a B.S. in Architectural Engineering from the University of Detroit. He is now Professor Emeritus at the Center for Creative Studies, where he has been on the staff of the photography department for thirty years. Rauhauser has been a visiting lecturer at the University of Michigan and Wayne State University with expertise in the history of photography. His images are in the permanent collection of the Detroit Institute of Arts and many other public and private collections.
Rauhauser is listed in the Archives of American Art at the Smithsonian Institute. His work was exhibited in the "Family of Man" at the Museum of Modern Art in 1955. Admired and respected by his peers, he has photographed Detroit for over fifty years.
