A native Austrian, Christine Saari has lived in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan since 1971. Her work as a freelance writer and photographer has appeared in many national and international publications including the Milwaukee Journal and the Christian Science Monitor. Saari's photos range from documentary black and white, color imagery and varied experimental alternative processes.
Saari has studied extensively both abroad and in the United States and maintains a high level of activity as a lecturer. She also instruct during many workshops and has acted as juror for a number of exhibits. She has received numerous grants and commissions, including a recent commission for a documentary in China. She is currently working on a body of work called "Family Album," for which she was awarded the Michigan Council for the Arts Creative Artist grant.
